Treatments

Dental Treatments for kids.
Your child at the centre of attention.

In our practice we follow the recommendations of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, taking into consideration the individual needs, preferences and values of our young patients in consultation with their carer.
The foundation of our practice at Dental kids is preventive care and interceptive orthodontics.

Preventive Dentistry means a healthy smile for your child.
Children with healthy teeth learn to speak more quickly and clearly and chew more easily gaining more nutrients from the foods they eat.

They have a better chance of general health as disease in the mouth can endanger the rest of the body. A healthy smile also is more attractive giving your children confidence in their appearance. Finally preventive dentistry means less extensive and less expensive care to insure your child’s happy smile (aapd)

We offer a preventive program based on your child’s individualized “caries risk indicator” to ensure that all our children will grow up with cavity free bright smiles. Tooth cleaning, polishing, fluoride treatments, sealants, mouthguards are all individualized to your child’s needs

At Dental kids we offer comprehensive orthodontic care for your children and teenagers to help them have a lifetime of healthy, attractive and confident smiles.

Interceptive Orthodontics

Your young one deserves straight, healthy and confident smiles. That’s why we provide early interceptive orthodontic care for young children. Our paediatric specialist are trained to spot problems with jaw growth and erupting teeth while some baby teeth are still present.
Early detection of orthodontic problems and treatment is advantageous to your child as it may prevent more serious problems from developing and make treatment at a later age shorter and less complicated.

Early treatment gives us the chance to guide jaw growth, lower the risk of trauma to protruded front teeth, correct harmful oral habits like thumb or finger suck, improve appearance and self esteem, guide permanent teeth into a more favourite position and improve the way lips meet.

Teenage Orthodontics

Being a teenager is challenging enough.
A bright, attractive smile can profoundly affect their confidence and social life.
Orthodontic treatment is essential not only for aesthetic purposes. It is important because crowded or badly aligned teeth are hard to clean and may contribute to tooth decay, gum disease and even tooth loss. A bad bite can also cause uneven wear of tooth surfaces, difficulty in chewing and /or speaking, excess stress on supporting bone and gum tissues and possible jaw joint problems and headaches. Without treatment problems may become worse.

As a result the overall “cost” of orthodontic treatment (financial and psychological) is less costly than potential additional dental treatments and a better quality of life.
At Dental kids we offer comprehensive orthodontic care for your children and teenagers to help them have a lifetime of healthy, attractive and confident smile.
We use state of the art orthodontic appliances (brackets and wires) to shorten the length of orthodontic treatment. To avoid the difficult stage of “wearing braces” we offer clear brackets and wires.

Finger and pacifier habits

Children usually suck on thumbs, fingers or other objects. This sucking is completely natural for babies and young children. It provides security. For babies it is a way to make contact and learn about the world.
Most children stop sucking on thumbs, pacifiers or other objects on their own between 2 and 4 years of age. However some children continue these habits over prolonged periods of time.
In these children the upper front teeth may tip toward the lip or not come in properly. It can affect the way the child’s teeth bite together, as well as the growth of the jaws and bones that support the teeth
At Dental Kids, our paediatric dentist can encourage your child to stop as well as recommend you ways to support your efforts and can monitor any unwanted teeth and jaw changes and intervene when needed.
